The Spirit of North Tyneside is a dynamic community sector hub and centre of excellence for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in North Tyneside.

Welcome to our dynamic community sector hub and centre of excellence for voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations across North Tyneside. In recognition of the vital role that VCSE sector organisations play in our communities, highlighted during the recent pandemic, this new space has been christened as the ‘Spirit of North Tyneside’ wing of Wallsend Customer First Centre.

The Hub has been designed to primarily serve small and micro-organisations supporting some of our most socioeconomically disadvantaged residents. It offers modern co-working space, face-to-face and virtual conferencing and training facilities and informal break-out areas.

Facilities and services include:

  • Meeting rooms
  • Boardroom
  • Media Suite
  • Hot desking
  • Break-out areas
  • Back office services
  • Shared reception and waiting area
  • Level access and automatic doors
  • Blue Badge/ Accessible Parking Bays
  • Accessible toilets and shower, and an assistive hearing loop.
  • There is a car park for public use within 200m
  • Near to public transport

The Hub has VODA as its anchor tenant – the VCSE sector infrastructure support organisation for the borough. It also houses the nationally accredited Volunteer Centre for North Tyneside. The aspirational facilities, space and support offered by the Hub seeks to:

  • enable the development of new community action activities
  • develop and support new and existing local partnerships and networks
  • build staff and volunteer capacity
  • strengthen governance and leadership.

The Hub offers a range of affordable ‘back-office’ services such as payroll, accountancy and printing. These services, alongside the offer of co-working space, help to reduce running costs for VCSE sector organisations, enabling more investment in the delivery of services that benefit residents.
